How are your servers connected
to the Internet?
We take our connectivity very seriously, maintaining redundant
connections through multiple Internet providers via multiple
redundant OC-3 Lines. An OC-3 connection is similar to a T3
("OC" stands for Optical Cable whereas "T" stands for telephone).
Furthermore, an OC-3 line runs at around 45-100Mb/s. Compare
this with a T1 running at 1.5Mb/s. Our High Speed UNIX Supreme
Servers are monitored 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a
year. This allows world-wide Internet to access your Web site
at unparalleled speeds!

Can I set up different email
addresses?
Each package comes with one "catch-all" E-Mail account in
your domain name. All E-Mail addressed to your domain name
(ie: anyname@yourdomain.co.uk) will be received by this account.
This allows you an unlimited amount of email address under
your domain name. You may check your E-Mail using any browser
over the Web, or using a POP3 compliant email program (Microsoft
Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Mail, etc.). You can also have 'forwarding'
to another E-Mail address, at no extra charge.
Our Standard Business package also offers individual Email
accounts, each with its own address and password. This is
a great way to give each of your key employees their own email
account. Our Web based user-interface allows you to administer
your own email accounts right from your browser. You can easily
set up forwarding, create auto-responders and more. If you
are an existing customer you can configure your email by going
to this address: www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/email.cgi (replace
yourdomain.com with your domain name) You will need your user
name and password to access this facility. If you would prefer
we can set up new email accounts on your behalf.

Will I be able to access my Domain
name with or without the WWW?
Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with and
without the WWW in front. Many web hosting providers do now
provide this capability. For example, you can access the domain
name "yourdomain.co.uk" by going to "www.yourdomain.co.uk"
as well as "yourdomain.co.uk".

Can I transfer an existing
domain name to freshwebhosting.com?
Yes. Whether you place an order by telephone or via our
online order form, be sure to specify that you are requesting
a transfer and NOT a new domain. You should keep the service
at the present site while waiting for Internic or Nominet
to complete the transfer. We can take care of the domain transfer.
All email and web pages will still be accessed from your current
site until propagation is complete.

How do I transfer files to my Web
Site?
Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport
Protocol (FTP). If you have a PPP Internet account, such as
freshwebhosting.com's dial up service, you need FTP software,
you can download a program for either the PC or Mac from TUCOWS.
Internet providers such as AOL and Compuserve may have a built-in
FTP interface. An FTP tutorial is available for first time
users in our support section.
freshwebhosting.com offers unlimited FTP access.

Will I have unlimited access
to update my pages?
You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such,
you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer
and upload files to your web site at your convenience.

How long does it take to set up
a new web hosting account?
Orders for new accounts will be setup within 24 hours, and
most times will be done the same day. Once an account is set
up you will be sent an email including a username, password,
and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new
web site immediately. It may take longer to have domain names
tranfered to your new web hosting account.

What is MySQL and PHP3?
MySQL
MySQL is an extremely fast, ODBC compliant database which
is well suited to all your online data storage needs -- catalogues,
dynamic and interactive web pages, and more. You may manipulate
your online database by using PHP or any other script in the
CGI-BIN. Because MySQL is ODBC-capable you can even upload,
download and manipulate your data using your Windows 98 desktop
and Microsoft Access, it is a powerful web tool for the dynamic
web site.
You can use MySQL under the standard business package.
Please note that we only make MySQL available on the servers.
We cannot support development related to your MySQL databases.
Information regarding MySQL is available at www.mysql.com.
PHP3
PHP Version 3.0 is an HTML-embedded scripting language.
Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with
a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal
of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically
generated pages quickly.
You can use PHP under the Standard Business Package.
Please note that we only make PHP available on the servers.
We cannot support development related to your PHP scripts
or applications.
A technical reference regarding PHP3 is available at www.php.net.
